Multiple plot new builds, Metal web joist supply in Oxfordshire.
Earlier this year E.T.S was appointed as the metal web joist supplier for a multiple plot site, in Oxfordshire. The site comprised of 3 & 4 bedroom properties and it was crucial to the builder that a firm feel to the floor was achieved. As such the use of E.T.S’s posi-joist solution (metal web joists) was the perfect choice for this project, due to their increased strength and spanning capabilities in comparison to alternative timber joist solutions such as I-beams or solid timber.
Further reinforcing the argument to use posi-joists, this project required steel beams to be hidden within the floor zone. The nature of posi-joist design allows E.T.S’s team to manipulate the design of the joist to accommodate a variety of scenarios, be it for top-chord supporting onto steel or timber beams, building into blockwork, lapping joists to ease with decking installation and many more…
The project also utilised MVHR (mechanical vent heat recovery) units, to provide fresh, filtered air whilst retaining the majority of the energy used in heating. As a consequence of this a large amount of ducting work was required through the properties. The open web nature of the posi-joist allows for services to be threaded through the joist void without the need for any drilling or notching, allowing for a much simpler installation process and ensuring that the contractor could reap the rewards of cost savings for reduced on site labour time for electricians, plumbers, and other trades as well.
